I would like 500GB for my VM
But I would then like 2 x 5TB volumes presented to the VM.
How would i accomplish this?

Is the PowerVault MD1000 compatible with 12th generation Dell PowerEdge servers such as the r520?
If so, can I install a Dell perc 6/e controller in a Dell 12th generation server?
Anything else to be aware of?
THANKS.
Hello.
I'd have TL2000 tape library with fiber channel (service tag XXXXXXX) and want to replace internal LTO4 tape drive to LTO5. Advice please, it's possible, and if yes, which drive i must buy?
Also i have one more question, which optical cable i need to connect it to HP Procurve GBIC?
I have a PowerVault TL2000 with 2 IBM 3580 LTO3-HH drives. I do NOT have an iscsi-to-SAS module in the back of the TL2000. However, I do have the SAS cable plugged from the back of the TL2000 into the server, and a network cable from the tape drive directly attached to the server. I am able to see a single drive, but using TSM, I need to define a path to the library. Does anyone know what I have to do/install to be able to see the library in the device manager?
Thanks,
Don Hipp
I have a MD1000 w/ split config.
one volume is connected to a R710 PERC 6/e
The other is connected to a PE 2950 w/ PERC 6.
The 2950 will not boot, possible HW issue
Can I connect the second RAID connection to the 710 with out data loss? Import foriegn config?
Thanks
OK I have spent some time looking around for a guide on how to add disks to our SAN and can't really find anything definitive.
We currently have a 10 disk RAID 5 SAN connected to 2 Dell PE servers in a Windows failover cluster. We have 1 Disk group containing 2 virtual disks (1 for Cluster Quorum and one that contains virtual servers). We are currently nearly out of space and I have purchased 5 x new disks to add to the SAN. So I guess I have a few questions;
1. Can I physically install all disks at once? Can this be done live?
2. The Add Free Capacity (Physical Disks) command says "You can use this free capacity to create more virtual disks within the disk group" however I want to expand the virtaul disk that my VHD's are stored on. Can this be done? And can it be done live?
3. Does anyone have a guide? The Dell Users manual for the MD3000 isn't overly descriptive.
Hi,
What could be the correct DAS configuration for 'Media Read Policy', 'Write Policy' and 'Disk Cache Policy' in order to maximize storage performance.
Thanks
I can't seem to locate a definitive explanation in regards to this issue.
We use a Dell PowerVault 114x for our backup needs. The other day, I swapped the tape over, and once the tape was loaded, it started displaying the error code "6" on the display. When I press the manual eject, nothing happens.
Anyone able to shed any light on what's going on?
On my Windows 2012 Hyper-V Failover cluster, using 2 R710 Servers with iSCSI and MD3220I SAN. During backup (Altaro Hyper-V Backup), I am getting these 3 errors from both servers during the nightly backup. Service has been set to restart.

I have contacted Altaro and their support has never seen these errors and they claim they are just doing a VSS backup, nothing special. My Windows 2008 R2 Hyper-V cluster has never seen these errors for over 2 years.
Anybody help here???
I have a problem to get an Dell LTO4 internal streamer working. First of all I received a total of 6 SAS cards from Dell before I could attach to LTO4 unit to a SAS card that could recognize the streamer. I don't know if this last card is the right one.
In the current set-up the Dell 6 Gbps SAS Controller is built into an Dell T620 as the dedicated controller for the LTO4 unit.
The tape unit is added and installed to an SBS 2011 virtual machine running under Vmware ESXi 5.1. In the SBS 2011 server the hardware is recognized and installed as a IBM tape unit.
So far so good, but when i put a tape into the unit after about 5 minutes the LTO is blinking error 6 with an exclamation sign.
Does anyone know what is cause of this problem? Could it be the controller of is the Virtual environment not supported?
Kind Regards,
Allert Lageweg
How can I backup the config on a MD3000i storage box? Can I export the virtual disks without causing any problems?
Thanks
Hello everyone,
We are getting an error on the LED front panel FB 00.
I was able to power cycle the unit, and re-seat all the drive sleds in the device, but the error returns. Any other suggestions?
Thanks

Hello,
Can someone explain me why the configuration of MD3000 show below that "grappe raid 1" (wich is made from 15000tr SAS disk) is protected by 2 disk (11 et 3) because the disk "11" is a 7200 tr/mn that shoud ONLY protect the "grappe raid 2" (wich is made from 7200 SAS disk), Disk "3" is a 15000 tr/mn...
regards,

Hi,
I need to connect a nearly new MD1000 powervault (purchased on delloutlet earlier this year) to a new poweredge R720 . I know this is not offically supported. Would folks suggest going with a H810 raid controller or using the Perc 6/e card?
Has anyone tried this?
Hello, everybody.
We have MD3000i with RAID10 and 3 failed hard disks. It was working perfectly for 3 years, and we didn't remember about it until this happened :-( Here are the questions:
1. recovery guru says that it maybe still possible to recovery the data and suggests to contact technical support. But the warranty has already expired, and I'm not sure, whether any support could be provided by phone. Did anybody have such experience?
2. what is the procedure for the recovery, can I do it myself?
Thank you in advance.
Have 8 drives[1] configured as RAID5 + 1 HotSpare. 2 Drives have died. Trying to replace them.
[1] Physical Disk path redundancy: OK

It seems Seagate do not make Barracuda's anymore so I bought the equivalent Constellation drives [2]:

When I install a new drive into the MD3000i the 6 original disks all stop and the SAN comes to a grinding halt. When I remove the new drive, they all come good again and the SAN plods along in degraded mode.
Why would inserting a new drive cause the MD3000i to stop working? If it is a compatibility issue, what are the correct replacement drives?
Hi guys, experiencing the titled issue, attempting to redistribute virtual disks had previously remedied the problem but that is no longer the case. I'm unsure if the issue is with the MD3000i or with vmware. I currently have five esx/i hosts connected to the SAN, all running esx/i 4.0 - 4.1. The MD3000i has this firmware version: 07.35.31.60.
The above error has two separate instances in recovery guru, one affecting one disk group and the other affecting three disk groups.
What further information can I provide to troubleshoot this issue?
