We're connecting to a MD3000i, with dual RAID controllers, only through a single in-band connection.
An iSCSI connection from 1 controller to the host server was the only cable attached to MD3000i and no other cables were connected.
We recently added a few extra hard drives to the device for creating new disk groups that we want to configure from a remote location.
That's why we now also connected the Ethernet management ports (of both controllers) to the network in order to get a more reliable connection by using the out-of-band management,
However it's not working yet because the Ethernet ports still hold the old manual IP settings that we used in our test environment (which is a different range and subnet) and we need to change it to match the current network (which btw has no DHCP available).
But when I want to apply the network changes in the storage manager, I get the following warning:
Now I'm confused what will happen with the storage array when I will accept this warning.
The MD3000i is currently part of a production environment and I cannot afford any unannounced downtime of the device.
Will accepting this (removing and re-adding to the management domain) have any affect on the status of currently used iSCSI in-band connection to the attached host?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Robert
