Hello
I have an MD3000i box connected to 2 MD1000 boxes these are connected to a Dell Power Vault running Storage server 2003.
Last night I connected up the 2nd MD1000 and added in 25TB worth of disks. I initially had trouble mapping the new virtual disk after 20mins or so I noticed that I had pulled out the Ethernet cable plugged into Raid Module 0 by mistake. I plugged it back in and was able to map the disk and started the initialization of the disks.
I have come in this morning to check how everything is doing and have found an error on the array. Virtual Disk Not On Preferred Path, Preferred owner: RAID Controller Module in slot 0. Current owner: RAID Controller Module in slot 1. Affected disk group MD1000_2. Virtual disk: Virtual4.
Now it seems to only affect the new virtual disk that I have created. I have checked in the Virtual Disk Ownership path and all the other virtual disks are using path 1 and the one I created is trying to use path 0.
The virtual disk seems to be working at the moment it's detectable and is initializing itself in the MDSM operations box. I am under pressure to get the extra storage space asap so I really can't afford to have to blow the virtual disk away and restart the initialization. I am hoping a simple reboot of the storage array will cure the problem but I presume I can't do that until the initializing of the disks is complete. I could also remap the preferred path for the virtual disk but I have seen online that it didn't fix the problem and I would still have to wait until initialization is complete.
Any help would be much appreciated.
