I am currently looking at replacing my Dell MD3000 DAS, I have approached a few vendors and Dell has put forward a MD3260 DAS system along with a server. The setup has 2x 2GB controllers with 136TB of NL-SAS disks. Currently my MD3000 is totally overloaded and slows to almost a complete stop at times. We have about 70TB stored on there and our users are often uploading and downloading 1-2TB a week to this system.
- If I have 2 x 2 port SAS cards in my server (I will get 2 servers if budget allows) can I connect all 4 to the storage array and then create 4 LUNs so each one uses 1 separate 6Gbs connection (giving me a total of 24Gbs on just 1 server)?
- Will the 4GB controller give a big boost in performance?
- Has anyone used the SSD Cache?
- Has anyone got any experience and opinions on using this system?
