I went through the recovery guru steps and verified the details outlined there. The hot spare is in use and the raid has been rebuilt. No icons indicating that any action is in progress. Raid is optimal.
The Recovery GURU is still saying that I cannot remove the dead disk though. Under the recovery steps it says to look for other reported problems but this is the only one.
Disk group: 5SAS
Failed physical disk at: enclosure 1, slot 1
Service action (removal) allowed: No
Service action LED on component: No
Replaced by physical disk at: enclosure 0, slot 5
Virtual Disks: prod_sas03-DB_Optimized
RAID level: 1
Status: Optimal
Under the Physical disk menu the disk shows as blank/unusable. I cannot even blink the dead disk.
Other detail: We have a MD1000 DAS connected to the MD3000i that also has a hot spare. I just noticed it is using the MD1000 hot spare instead of the MD3000 hot spare. Could this be causing the issue? Is there a way to change which hot spare is being used and rebuild the raid to a different disk?
This is my first time posting in matters related to storage. Please let me know if there is any standard information that needs to be posted. Normally for server troubleshooting the model/OS/physical specs are posted to help dial down issues. Not sure what the standards are for storage.
