OK, so maybe a dumb question, but does the Media ID (the "L3" or "L6" suffix on the barcode) make any real difference in the operation/identification of the tapes? I ask because I have a pile of unused LTO-3 labels and a new (to me) TL2000 with LTO-6 media needing labels. I'm wondering if I can use the old labels or if the suffix will somehow tell the library or the software that the tape is an LTO-3. I acknowledge that it make good logical sense to keep them consistent--L3 labels on LTO-3 media, L6 for LTO-6--but is there any technical reason it wouldn't work?
Thanks!
